Cause:            Apparent Heart Attack

Incident information:

Lt. Barnes died March 19, 1991 after completing a physical conditioning exercise and test for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. He collapsed after a mile and a half walk/run while he was having his blood pressure and vital signs taken as part of the department’s fitness program. Lt. Barnes was given CPR in an ambulance but was pronounced dead at the Washoe Medical Center.
