On September 25, 1982 the body of Corrections Sergeant Vincent Tatum, was found in the desert area east of Las Vegas. Sergeant Tatum had been shot four times in the head and beaten. It was later determined that Sergeant Tatum had been working an internal investigation at one of the prisons in Southern Nevada. He had disappeared after leaving the prison in late August. His body was found a month later. It was determined that his death was a result of the work he had been doing at the prison and no arrests were ever made. The case is still unsolved.
